The rate of pub closures has significantly increased over the years, with London taking the biggest hit. To find out why pubs have been faced with these difficulties, we spoke to the owners of The Leigham Well Pub in Streatham. The newly engaged couple, Sophie and Will, renovated their new pub back in February 2026. With the cost of the living crisis and tension in the property market, Will gave us an insight of the reality of independently owning a pub in 2026.
